Zelda's Tale...
To us, Zelda looks like a unicorn - beautiful, majestic, and rare. White donkeys (the rarest color of donkey) are often suseptible to health issues. These include sensitivity to light, sunburns, and potentially cancer. Zelda is subject to all of these, so we treat her with sunscreen, a UV mask to protect her eyes, and topical medication for her skin issues. In addition, Zelda has head shakers syndrome which is a poorly understood neurological issue that causes her to spontaneously twitch and shake her head. She has gone through every test, scan, and treatment to try to find the root cause of her head shaking and this is her ultimate diagnosis. We are still pinpointing the biggest triggers that cause her to lapse into severe episodes, and she still has good and bad days. But by providing her with a safe, calm and loving environment, we have been able to reduce the severity and frequency of the episodes.
Zelda loves everyone and would sit in your lap it she could figure how to do so. She settles for endless combing, scraths, and loves kisses. She may be the worlds best at giving meaningful hugs.
If you are need of a good hug, Zelda will be there for you, always.
